This chain is similar to standard chisel chain, but the grind on the cutter is angled, which makes it the fastest cutting chain available today. This chain is primarily used for falling big softwood trees on the west coast, but many professional cutters use this chain in the eastern hardwood forests also. This chain is designed to cut in clean, green wood, and any dirt or mud will dull it quickly. The square ground cutter design can be difficult to sharpen properly with a file, so many users sharpen this chain with a chisel chain grinder. This chain has no kickback reduction features (See warning below), so it is recommended for professional use only.
